If Pentax were to advertise, they would consult a major firm which I"m sure wouldn't have a problem selling this. They would think bigger, maybe after a big contribution to Obama they'd fake a paparazzi photo with him caught using the Q taking pictures of his kids eating Mac and Cheese in the morning. Kraft has done this and Target stores with Mrs. O. It seems right now, Pentax is putting the chips in the R&D department. I'm sure Pentax which has been around since what, 1917 or something has an idea what they are doing. Unlike Flickr, just kidding...

I've often thought about starting a user based - grass roots type of advertising campaign. it would have to be damn clever though...

Cute Japanese girls with cute purses and the Q is a great idea.

CuteKorean: Kim Ha Yul at Pentax Photo Festival

The problem is that if the girls are TOO cute, well, people just ignore the Pentax (or whatever else they are trying to sell) entirely.

For instance, check the comments on that article. No mention of Pentax.

Of course, I could be wrong. More cute Asian girl ads are required for more data analysis!

I would market the Q to birders by making a version of the Q to K adapter with AF. This would make the Q a killer for wildlife photography.

Maybe Pentax should start selling those Pentax stockings?

FWIW, my wife just started to take an iPhone snapshot - then she stopped and said, "Wait a minute. Let me get out my good camera." Which is a Q and 01.

That is an absolute true story. It happened during a wedding party taking group shots of our children's peers. During the 4 days (yeah, it was quite the event) she took a wide variety of landscape, interior, portrait, street and snapshots with her Q.

There simpky HAS to be some kind of a campaign in there somewhere.

Q Can Do.

What about asking questions to the specific groups of shooters? i.e. macro shooters:

A picture of a macro shoot made with the Q on which is written:
Want shoot macro? Q can do.
Pentax Q [picture of the Q] The Queen of MILC's

Upload this to instagram, twitter, etc. and make the Qusers share it with their followers.

One could do that with all kind of shooting styles (birding, tele, ...)

This is boring, but imagine a commercial where someone is flipping through a photographer's portfolio, and there's ultra-wide angle landscapes, fish-eye pics, street shots, macros, Holga-esque shots, close ups the moon, and birding shots. The person asks what photographer shoots with, and they take the ENTIRE system out of their pockets...
