Just a Q but not Q mount? I think a modular adapter is more plausible. How do Auto 110 lenses compare to Q lenses?

I have always thought a 110 mount would make sense. In fact I expected the Q to be 110 mount instead of what it is. But the 110 system has the aperture in the camera not the lens, and used it as the iris as well. Possibly this has technical problems for adapting to modern cameras?

I mentioned this to a guy with 110 lenses and he said they weren't really worth saving.

I use the 110 lenses adapted to m43 which is same size sensor as original -110 , and larger than Q
The 18mm is the best one. Corner sharpness is an issue but OK stopped down a bit (repost)

I imagine the -110 focal length range 18 ~ 70mm is a bit long for Q sensor?

I have a P110 to Q adapter and all of the primes except the 18mm Pan Focus, and I even have one of the Soligor 1.7x TCs and the Pentax close ups for all but the 70mm. I was disappointed with the lens' performance on the Q, but I'm keeping all of these to play with a bit more.

Sometime, probably this winter, I plan on experimenting with some stopped down aperture inserts to see if this might help the optical performance of these lenses. I haven't given up on them yet. . . They are so small and nicely made, it would be a shame not to be able to use them.

Hi,Snostorm,
the -110 lenses are no good wide open, probably because there is no stop at all to make them f/2.8
I found that the position behind lens (and maybe thickness) of Waterhouse aperture inserts is critical to sharpness
With help of another member MysteryOnion who measured a -110 body, I made the following sketch for 110 lens stop position which would also be applicable to Q

This is my home machined M43 adaptor with a f/4 18mm brass stop

This 18 mm lens is small and works well as it doesn't really need to be focussed, anyone can pick up the camera and take a good shot.

Hi wombat2go,

Thanks!! That's great information, and should save a bunch of time and messing around. This will encourage me to start the project much sooner. Starting out with a good idea of what needs to be done makes things so much better!

Very nice job on the adapter!!
