I haven't gotten around to doing much portrait work with the Q yet, but I will -- can't wait to show off what this little thing can do with the right light.

Will a hood added to the 02 zoom help with the flare?

yes, extremely so, buy the cheap JJC one on ebay, its plastic and has a strong bounce to it which means if dropped you got some shock absorption, I think the pentax one is built the same and cost a ton... Same with the 01 the JJC is metal just like the pentax one and its WAY cheaper and you cant even tell it's an aftermarket brand... I find both the 01 and 02 (I sold my 02, not because it sucked, because I didnt need it, I like having 3 little primes with my Q) unusable without the hoods, pentax should of included them, it was insane they did not at the prices they were charging... I bet the 06 is coming with the hood, I think they learned there lesson the first time around, JJC made a lot of money on Q hoods...

Agree--I think selling a lens w/o hood truly sucks.

What lens did you use to shoot these pix. I'd like to do some testing with mine

The 02 hood I have is a bayonet style, only the 01 hood screws on.
The 02 hood can be reversed for storage. It was designed for the Q so with the Q7 it tends to vignette at wide settings.

I mostly use the 01 lens, its quite capable. The fisheye was obviously used for the fisheye shot. I just got the 06 but haven't really done any portrait work with it yet.

Btw, here's one from a while ago that is my favorite portrait with the Q -- again, using the 01
