What I still don't get is why Focus Peaking isn't mentioned anywhere in the release notes, or as a feature for the Q10?
This is one heck of an Easter Egg, don't you think?

Pentax marketing is weird indeed. Focus peaking and SR with all lenses is one heck of a sales argument and they simply waste it!

Hey... It's only been available for less than 12 hours. Cut them some slack...

Cheers... M

just upgraded. 1st thing i've noticed is that the front dial now tells me what it's programmed for. ie- unicolor bold, brilliant color etc - on the lcd as i turn the wheel. that's handy. but i still cant assign different functions to the dial from different groups. pity, but oh well.

edit: it only tells me the dial program in smart effects. if i choose from the others, i still have to go by symbols rather than words.
Have you saved any of your favorite camera configurations as "User" designations to the front dial stops? I have not (yet), but it looks like a handy work-around... eh?

Just curious... M

I was mostly referring to the Q10 as I haven't read about focus peaking nor SR with all lenses in any store description. Also, adding a line about "enabled focus peaking" and "enabled manual focus length input for adapted lenses" isn't really that hard.

focal length is focal length, regardless of what sensor is behind it

I'm thinking the same, otherwise it would say "FOV".

When you enter the focal length is it the actual focal length or the crop multiplied?
Going by the samples that are already in the list I would enter lens focal length. They show 15, 21, 77 etc.

Well that's all I need to hear... I just ordered my first Q! About $300 on ebay including the 01 Prime, I can't wait.

Sure Pentax might see it as a loss of a Q10 sale (although I was leaning toward the original even w/o the firmware update), but they'll get my money eventually as I buy lenses for the system, and some day maybe upgraded bodies too...

Let us know how that works! The admittedly pre-production Q10 with the SR for adapted lenses that I tried out worked much better with the "multiplied" focal length, at least for the DA*300/4 I tried handheld (which meant 1650mm was entered). When I used the actual focal length of 300mm, which makes much more sense BTW, the results were blurry as if SR wasn't on at all, but 1650mm gave sharp results. Might've been the firmware... hence the request for tests!

Not working for some reason

Thank you OP for providing this link! However, I am unable to upgrade my firmware. I downloaded the .exe file onto my windows computer and then dragged that file onto a formatted SD card. I am not able to get to the 'update' screen when I reach the 'Firmware version' in the menu. I think the file is not correctly copied onto my sd card. Any suggestions? Should I try the zip file version? Thanks for your help.

Double click the EXE first on your computer, it should produce a .bin file. Drag the .bin file then follow the directions on the webpage.
