Sun flare- Q vs Q10.

Everything was shot identically and dng was converted in Photoshop Elements 8. No processing except resizing. Q first followed by Q10.
thanks

Seems less purple making it through on the Q10?

David, is it from a Q or a Q10?

That's backscatter reflection from the tiny lenses on the sensor (bouncing off the rear element and back to the sensor). Seriously hard to reproduce. Good job!

I hate to be nitpicky but clearly this is not the case, the composition is not the same. However the results are close enough -- and as expected, Q10 isn't going to do much (probalby nothing) to help the flare & inner reflection problems associated with the Q system's design.

David, that's pretty awesome.

Looks like no change, to me; framing appears slightly more beneficial for the Q10 with respect to flare, and its almost exactly the same.

I've never experienced flare like the Q; not only do the lenses flare (of course), but the sensor flare is really unique. I've never been able to replicate the balls above, love that! I actually like flare, and sometimes use that crazy sensor flare purposefully to enhance images.

(I was in a flare mood that day!)

If pentax ever comes out with a fast portrait prime, I'm planning to use it in conjunction with the sensor flare to make lovely high key portraits!
