What would be the optimal SD card to use ? 4. Any specific settings which would render the learning phase easier ? 5. Any sense in updating the firmware yet ? Seems that the firmware updating is not done the same way as I usually do with my K7, K5 ... frankly, I haven't had the time to check that yet. Cheers! JP
1. Your call, it lets you try the image filters which are fun.
2. I did not, I use LR4 and it fits right into the flow that I use for the K-5
3. See https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-q/204434-sd-card-type-best-used-q.html
4. None that I can think of learning, there are some settings recommended in the thread 'Share your shots with the Q' for tuning the sharpness, etc.
5. It can wait, till you want to use adapted lenses, but the Peaking is nice if you want that.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.
Just one thing: so if I shoot RAW, I can always just "dump" the RAW file into CS5 and Camera RAW will open it "as usual", right?

I don't have either of those programs running but with LR4 I can process the RAW as usual as I do with the K-5 RAW.

I'll let others who have that software confirm.

Bayonet on the zoom, screw on the 01 prime. On the zoom it even stores in reverse position, really cute like it's trying to be a big lens.

So that hood does both?
How well does the bayonet fit on the zoom?

Oh sorry - no the zoom hood is bayonet, it does not fit the 01 prime.

The 01 prime is a different hood I linked to in my first response, it screws on.

For the 01 prime there is another hood it is a vented external one but I preferred the smaller type.

Whew, I ordered the right one!

The Pentax version - PH-SBA 40.5 - seems to be only available in Japan at the moment.

I haven't had a problem with the aftermarket copies, so don't see a reason to splurge on the branded plastic

Is that something I have to buy?
Does it come with the "retail" version of this lens as opposed to the "kit"?

I don't like the fact but they only sell it separately, it should be included with such a "luxury" camera as it was when they released it. Though Canon at least does the same with many of their lenses.

That is the hood that I am still waiting to have delivered. Now that I look at it the seller is in Brooklyn so I will calm down and wait a bit more for it.
