Finally have my own Q

The Q I ordered from Fry's for $299 arrived today.

It's not a ceiling fan.

It does have the standard 01 lens in as described.

It is not refurbished.

It does not appear to have been used or be a demo.

I can't believe I'm saying this but after failed attempts with QVC, Quill, and other vendors of ill-repute I seem to have finally gotten a brand new, works, with all the parts, Q at an amazing price.

Amazon is a better deal than Fry's because Fry's adds shipping and tax which made mine $325. But, the Amazon deal was not available when I ordered. Hope you enjoy yours.

If my experience is similar, you guys should order up a couple of spare batteries right quick. The Q eats through the little Li-68 much faster than a K-5 munches Li-90's.

Thanks, I had seen comments like that and ordered 2 Wasabi batteries with a charger that isn't a throwback to 1990.

The type is Li - 68 but it goes by other codes also, it is pretty common so you should be able to get a deal. I think I ordered this pack

Thanks. I'm going to have to find the time, but am looking forward to it.

I also got, based on the thread here on Accessories for the Q, a Manfrotto MP1-C01 Pocket Series Tripod (Black) in today. Wow, it's a terrific little add-on. Barely there, very solid, $19, and it allowed me to point the Q to a good bit from the table top. The Q is really nice with it because the battery door and SD Card door are on the sides, so the little tripod really isn't interfering with anything on the camera (other than the HDMI and USB sockets which I never use).

The two things that attracted me to the Q, other than its size, are its Macro and Telephoto potential. So, when I thought I had a Q many months ago I bought a K-Q adapter, which I never returned So, when I got home this evening I put it on the Q and tried it with some of my MF lenses.

The first one is with the M50/4 Macro lens. I know I need to fool around with the settings but I just wanted to try the little Q out

The second is from the Push-Pull M80-200

Now, how do you zoom in in preview like you can on the K-5 with the info button in Liveview?

Looks good! You already have the Q and long lenses figured out. To get the magnified focus assist you must turn it on the first time in the menu. Menu>camera tab 1>focus settings>MF assist> select 2X or 4X. Press OK button to activate. If you activated firmware update 1.10 focus peaking is also available.

If your Q-Pk adapter isn't flat black inside it needs to be painted. Crewl1 was the first to try it and it makes a huge difference. Newer lenses have coatings to reduce the light from bouncing between the sensor and rear lens element. Some lenses are unusable with the Q. They produce a white fog. painting the adapter helps a lot.
thanks

Thanks. I have the Fotodiox PK-P/Q adapter with tripod foot. It's ribbed on the interior but appears to be glossy. Any instructions on going about painting the interior without worries of flaking paint? I'd hate to get paint flakes inside the camera.
