Tamron XR Di 18-200 on the Q

A few quick test shots with the Tamron XR Di 18-200mm on the Q using a Fotodiox adapter. All handheld, all ISO400, except the first one shot at 18mm, which was ISO200.

This is the Promaster branded version of this lens.

I think it's surprisingly usable. Good color & decently sharp. Some PF wide open, but stop it down a couple of notches & PF virtually vanishes. It did a lot better than I expected it to.

For what it's worth, I tried this Tamron XR Di 18-200 on the Q yesterday, and found it surprisingly decent. Stopped down a notch or two, IQ was crisp, colors were good, with moderate PF (I've seen worse) that could easily be fixed in post. IQ was pretty good at all focal lengths. I can post test shots if you guys want... 'Sup to you.
Yes please. Edit your original post and add them there so the index will be easy to follow.

Zuiko 50mm F1.8 w extension tubes

Hi my Zuiko 50mm f 1.8,this time with 2 extension tubes mounted 25mm & 19mm, self timer 2 sec
ISO 125,F8 .Focus was done by moving tripod.not sure of mag. but more than 1:3 I think ,coin was 1cm in diameter, temp. gauge 2cm, and light bulb about 3cm ,metal brush 2.5cm
lighting was one neon tube, not the best but I think it worked OK
very hard to check focus, used focus peaking but hard to see when it locked

Pentax C30811KP 8.5 f1.5 C mount CCTV lens

I have only had this lens for a day but so far it looks like a winner.
Construction:
All metal, well machined grip for the aperture, and a nice "M like" rubber insert on the focusing barrel.
All glass lenses.
Heavy for its size.
Three blade aperture.
It is bigger than the 03 and smaller than the 02 lenses.

Image quality:
Sharper than the 02.
Somewhat "cool", I add some magenta and contrast to the image.
Shows good amount of detail.

From F2 to F8 the lens is good, but is at it's best at 4-5.6, I did not test it at 1.5 yet. It has long focus throw making manual focusing this lens very easy. The controls are smooth and easy to use. Being an industrial lens, the lens should give years of service.

I have a black 02 kit and finding an 01 lens without paying silly money or buying another kit at a higher price than I paid for the 02 kit seems to be impossible. So after some searching I found this lens from Pentax. This lens looks good on the Q and the 02 lens cap fits perfectly. The 01 probably out resolves it and is made for the camera but if you have the 02 kit this is a good option. Priced at $95 vs the $240 I have seen for the 01 alone I can live with this lens. I paid $12 for the C to Q adapter.

Wow, it really does look like a winner -- would love to see this stacked up against the 01.

Marshall Electric V-450 1/3" 4mm C mount lens

This lens is for a 1/3" camera sensor and it will vignette on the Q.

construction:
All metal barrels with a small rubber focusing band
Glass lenses
F2.5 fixed aperture
Smaller than the 03

Image quality
Once you get past the vignetting the images are reasonably sharp and have good color. The lens records a good amount of detail and acts like a fisheye. Focus is manual and has twice the throw of the 03 so it is slightly easier to focus than the 03.

Cropping out the vignetting will leave you useable images if framed correctly. Priced at $23 from B&H, it is a fun lens to play with and the images don't look so toy like.

Included image shot in Jpeg with out any adjustments

Really neat photos oldbike!
Would love to see the lenses on the Q too, if it's not too much trouble.

Thanks. As for showing them on the Q, no trouble really, I'll get them shot by this weekend.

After trying several cheap fisheyes & giving up on them, yesterday an 03 was shipped to me. So now I spot this one... Figures. :-P

Your original decision seems like the right one to me. It is difficult to get a truly high quality wide angle or fisheye with corner to corner sharpness at this size of sensor. Although I don't own it, the design of the 03 FE looks to be much better than the results you get from the best of the comparably priced CCTVs. The advantage to this design is that you can sharpen across the field for a fairly high quality look, which is far preferable to what we are seeing from third party units where the center is a bit sharper but the edges are hopeless. The long end is a different matter, though. You certainly can get good image quality, fast prime MP lenses in compact sizes at a value price.

The Fujian 35 / 1.7 is good example. Best $18 I ever spent on a lens.

Thanks for posting, they both look great on the Q!
Looks like I need to get the C adapter, and look for some of these little guys.
