Minolta Maxum AF 50mm f1.7

Just received my Fotodiox AF-P/Q for Minolta A mount lenses. The first one that I tried was the Minolta Maxum AF 50mm f1.7 (22) I believe that works out to about a 275mm

Some shots - It was a dark/overcast day
ISO 400, 1/500 sec, approx f2

ISO 400, 1/500 sec, approx f2

ISO 200, 1/800 sec, approx f1.7

ISO 200, 1/50 sec, approx f1.7

You might want to play with apertures a little most of the tested lenses work best at about f5.6 or abouts

Good advice! I'll do some more testing when I get the chance. It was about 35 degrees that day with a wind chill in the middle 20's so I didn't take much time with my shots...BRRRRR!!! Also, the Fotodiox adaptor doesn't have any f-stop markings so I kinda guess what the aperture opening is...

Bjorsa, now thats major macro! Very difficult shooting at this magnification. Well done. The Canon does 1-5X on a dslr. Was this at the minimum or maximm lens magnification? Your lens rocks with the Q.
thanks

Thanks barondla !
This shot was at 1* so around 3,3:1 the problem is that you cant change the aperture on canon lenses so you have to use 2,8 all the time
with the mp-e65 if you dont make som homemade aperture adapter .

That is a lot of magnification. Very hard to even find the subject. The slightest move misses the subject or changes focus. Great job.

I am working on a gadget to help aim my Olympus OM 20mm macro. The OM works in a Similar mag range. Such a narrow field of view. I will post pics when it is finished.

Yeah, the Canon motorized aperture is a pain when adapted to other cameras. There is a way to use different apertures. Put the lens on a Canon EOS body, select aperture you want, remove the lens without turning off camera. Aperture motor stays at that opening! Means carrying a big camera in the field ( though the M body should work). Have seen a few third party adapters that have a mechanical aperture built in. None for Q yet. You shoot my kind of photography- extreme.

Post more macros
thanks

That trick dosent work on my canon 50d and mp-e 65 I have already tried it before but I will try it on my other canon lenses and see if it works on them.

Sounds interesting about your olympus om 20 macro and looking forward to see some shot with it when you fix that gadget .

Here is a shot of a flyeye with pentax q and a homemade lens and the image is around 0,2-0,3 mm wide and I did stack 3 shots to get some dof
