Nice to hear from you Scott, I agree your lens does perform well, I also like having a 200mm zoom on my Q, in my case an old F 80-200. I have stayed away from the 50-200 because of all the bad press but your images might change that, nice shooting

I have stopped this lens down using a ringbinder ring like I had previously done with the 18mm (post 661) and the 24mm. I have made major technological improvements though- I now also felttip black most of the sticky side leaving just a 1mm rim to stick to the back lens surround. This ups the contrast just that little bit more. The ring stops the lens down one and a bit stops- therefore f4.5. Another modification to the lens is sticking a 40.5 filter thread (uv filter with the glass knocked out) to it and then fitting a very tight hood on. I think these lens may have reasonably good coatings anyway. The result rocks!

Way to get the 110 lenses going GUB, the pup shot looks excellent. The flowers look a bit underexposed, were you shooting in low light?

I'd say, considering how brutal the Q is with adapted lenses, this is pretty good performance. I'll not hesitate to use this lens with the Q if I need to sacrifice a bit of reach from the DA 55-300 and save a little space in the bag.

Nice work Scott , the 50-200 does well. I know moving waterbirds are hard to focus on, you did a great job.

Soligor 8/600mm T2 classic on Pentax Q first version. T2 to Minolta MD to Q adapters 3rd party.

The flowers were in the shade but yeah I probably have underexposed them a bit. It seems to get the best out of these lens to keep the exposure down a bit. I leave my compensation about -1 stop.
Cahudson had a chuckle about my famous dog the other day and I have to admit she is getting a bit of a models attitude (poncy) But i find it is a good way of recreating a portrait type picture and the hair gives a good indication of the sharpness of the image. I am guessing you find the same with the birds-- the slightest softness and the feathers totally lose it.

Well that is what we were trying to do on a larger scale. To answer your question the best long lens is the DA*300 then the DFA 100 macro, many people also like the SMC M 135 f3.5. I find my copy of the SMC F 80-200 zoom is also quite good

Thanks. Here's another len shot using Alpex 1 1/2 inchces (38.1mm) F/2.5 len at f/2.5 at low light.

Taken with Schneider Variogon 8-48mm f/1.8 at ~48 focal length at f/1.8 at low light. Overall the len is very sharp throughout focal range but with vignette on 8-30~ focal range.
