Minolta MC Rokkor-PF 1.7/50mm

Hi all,

Just wanted to share my first experiences with my Q10, MD-P/Q adapter, and my Rokkors. All images were shot handheld, no tripod or monopod, and they are unedited jpg exports.

Minolta MC Rokkor 1.7/85mm

And here is my favorite lens. This 85mm translates into a 474mm 35mm equivalent. It really dwarfs the Q10.

(pics made using Canon 1000D with Tamron 3.5-6.3/28-300mm)

And it makes these pictures:

85mm f1.7 1/160s iso100
The Schleich model is approximately 1.5m from the camera. The camera was positioned on a table with a small booklet supporting the lens.

85mm f1.7 1/100s iso160
The flower is approximately 2.5m from the camera. Handheld picture during a bright sunny day.

85mm f1.7 1/100s iso125
The flower and fly are approximately 1.5m from the camera. Handheld picture.

85mm f1.7 1/100s iso125
The butterfly is approximately 2.0m from the camera. Handheld picture.

Nicely done -- some good glass and it shows well on the Q, even wide open.

Sigma APO Macro 180 f2.8

Had a chance to test the Sigma on Q10. The stork was sitting on a pole about 40m away from a balcony I was shooting from and with the sun slightly behind the animal it became a perfect opportunity to see how well the apo is with controlling CA. I think the lens performed well, the photo is a 60% crop from original.

ISO 100, 1/1250, F4

Nikkor 300 f4.5 ED IF

Also for comparison the Q10 with Nikkor 300 f4.5. Same animal, same conditions, uncropped. The Nikkor dispays quite a bit more red, green and purple colour fringing then the APO Sigma even with its ED glass, but relatively easy to fix in PP.

ISO 100, 1/640, F4.5

PS: Both lenses might have a bit of a missed focus as I didn't have a tripod and had to improvise leaning on a balcony rail.

Any tips on converting this sucker? I bought one to try out, but I realized that there is an internal focusing lens/rear element that needs to be attached (that and the individual lenses aren't D-mount). How did you get the whole turret assembly to a D-mount thread?
