Schneider Kreuznach 105mm f4.5 enlarger lens

Great images for an $11 lens. Mounted on my Q with a custom setup but essentially using a pentax helicoid to focus. An interesting comparison with the Sankor enlarging lens I reviewed on post 851. Overall a better lens. A little sharper and I think the OOF may be a little smoother or maybe it is just the drizzling overcast day doing the trick. Handheld these images and probably should not have. Saved as jpeg and pped in gimp.

Vivitar 400mm f5.6

I bought a Vivitar 400mm F5.6 lens on eBay and tried it out on the moon seeing as it was a bright moon and a clear night. The moon shots are straight from the camera. The picture of the camera set-up was courtesy of Mrs 35millimetre using my Ricoh CX2. Here are the results;

Pentax super tak 135mm 3.5 (M42)

Turkey Vultures are common in central Texas, and these took a break on a dead oak tree to groom and dry out from the morning rain. I made these on an overcast morning from approx. 100 yards away using a tripod-mounted Q and an adapted M42 manual focus Super-Takumar 135mm f/3.5 lens (equivalent focal length about 750mm). These JPEGs are derived from the RAW files cropped to about 80% with some sharpening and basic enhancements. Considering the distance, they’re not bad although the limitations of this screw-mount vintage lens and the sensor “stack up” against any hope of technical excellence. This "extreme telephoto" adapted lens shooting can be fun, but with the original Q’s sensor, I’ll never expect anything better than long-range snapshots.

Pentax Q and adapted M42 Super-Takumar 135mm f/3.5, 1/320 sec at f/5.6, ISO 320.

I stopped down a bit more here to f/8 for the group photo.

Here’s a reference shot from the same camera location, at a “normal” focal length of 9mm (taken the next day). Note the yellow box showing the approx area of the adapted telephoto pics.

Pentax K50 1.4 on the Q

She may be art but she never will be science.!
Acceptable sharpness at 5.6 but probably too soft wide open for most use.
The matching images are comparisons , 5.6 and 1.4.
I would love to see other entries for this lens to see if mine is a good example.
I experienced some colour shift (probably due to a loss of contrast) wide open and created a thread about it.
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/136-pentax-q/272240-colour-shift-normal.html
I altered exposure compensation to 1 1/3 stops underexposed and that improved things. I usually underexpose 2/3 of a stop.

EL-Nikkor 50/2.8

The original Q. Nikkor EL-Nikkor 50/2.8 probably at 5.6 (this is enlarger lens, I have older version). Setup: M39 to M42 adpater, M42 variable extension ring, M42 - K adapter, homemade K to Q adapter, 2 small cheap chinese video led lamps.

What great results. I had heard that the EL nikkors enlarger lenses are pretty good.
How low a profile have you achieved with your custom Q to 42 adapter.
The best I have achieved is this setup. I took a D mount to Q adapter and bounded it to the internal end of a non infinity PK to M42 adapter.
I now can achieve infinity focus with 50mm enlarger lens compared to the adapter I was using in my photo on post 630
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/136-pentax-q/209474-adapted-lenses-tested...ml#post2716126
So from left to right:
Custom adapter. ( The relatively small D mount hole acts nicely as a baffle.)
A 40.5mm ir-uv cut taken out of its mount and located with the rubber washer.( There is a modest image gain from the ir-uv cut filter but its main purpose is to keep the sensor enclosed while I mess around changing lenses)
Then a standard Pentax M42 helicoid
And finally a 39 to 42 adapter.
This setup is great also with M42 lenses giving a built in closeup ability.
In the foreground is a 110 mount taken from a camera body and bonded into a custom washer that slips down the top of the helicoid and sits on a shelf about 15mm inside . This gives me closeup ability with the 18 and 24 110s. The 50 is too big.
The black washer acts as another baffle.
The second picture is a close up of the adapter.

In fact I didn't cared about infinity focus for my EL- Nikkor - rather wanted to have some macro solution which allows my to make a photo of the whole butterfly or focus closer. But maybe I can try to adapt it another way for infinity shots.

Samyang 16mm F2.0

Non Pentax adapter...@F2. Color is washed out. This is the second lens I don't like on the Q, and both are Samyang lenses.

Your exif doesn't make a lot of sense. (f2 1/2 sec ISO160.) It looks like the cat is sitting in soft sunlight but I guess it is inside with a dim light source. If it was sunlight strong enough to cast shadows wouldn't the shutter speed be 1/2000 or 1/4000?
And try underexposing a bit -- it seems to help colours.

Yes, inside with a light on and a window to the left rear(dusk). But I am only interested in adapting lenses to the Q that make good photos easily, and neither of the Samyang lenses seem able to do that. I could stick a Pentax 50 F1.4 on the Q and take the same photo and the cat would look normal.

I have noticed that the 16mmF2 Samyang also sometimes makes a very slight washed out color on my K10, except in sunlight...Apparently the Q10 is magnifying whatever this lens is doing with the K10 to make it look even worse, like this. Interestingly, the lens works great with my K100Super.
