Just a bit of crazy, no worry

Here's my recent modding of modified to D-mount Nizo S800's Schneider Variogon 7-80mm f/1.8

Sample pictures on Q (this len can be mounted on m43 also):

A severe case of cognitive dissonance...

First, I'll have to say that your modifications are mind blowing...especially the three-lens turret!
Second, my heart bleeds for the destruction of the old classic movie cams.
I've been eyeing my old 60's Sekonic Double-8 with a similar three-lens turret ever since I saw that mod.
But, no, I can't kill it...

No one is entirely guilt free, though...I've killed an old JVC video cam with a separate VCR-box dead.
But then, I did not have the separate box with the tape mechanism.
So now I have the Canon TV Zoom Lens f:1.8/12-75 mm.
And I am going to put it onto something useful once I get around to it.
I'll just have to figure out a stylish way to fix the internal bit of focusing optics to the very nice external bit...

Thanks/Erik

You know you guys are really going out to all lengths to get lenses.

Sometimes my heart bleeds as well Eric . To movie camera collectors, it is a horror show to end these cameras but rest assure, these are defected one way or another. Rather than converting them to "art deco" or "decorating lamp", I prefer a more practical approach.

Not sure of others, but I am. Most vintage movie cine lens' resolution are often the same if not greater than most modern camera lens. The second reason is owning something that is unique and functional.

Anyway, enough rant, here is

Keystone 8mm camera

Hi, before I buy this Keystone 8mm camera, can someone please tell me if the lenses on it are adaptable to the Q? I see that Rendition post #775 had these lenses or similar on his Q, but I need to remove them individually from the mount. Are they easy to remove? Are they fixed focus? Is this the "D" mount? Thanks in advance.

It is rather aggravating . . . I took my Q with the Pentax PK-PQ adapter and my "new" SMC M 50/1.4 out on a hike this morning. I did manage to get a few shots, but most of the time the adapter's shutter wasn't opening at all. I'd turn on the camera, and the screen would go black. If I pressed the shutter, it would take a highly overexposed image, then shut the leaf shutter all the way down again. It's not the camera, because I attached the 06 zoom and it worked fine. I saw in another thread where this has happened before. It was working perfectly with the SMC M 50/1.7, but it began acting bizarre as soon as I switched lenses. I guess my adapter goes back to Adorama Monday.

hi jacobsr. it's the same camera that I modded the len. the len themselves are easy to remove but the rear element will need to take sometimes to remove.the lens are fixed focus and they are not in d-mount, so you end-option would be to adapt it to a D-mount using a spare D-mount ring; if not, go with body cap pentax Q.

Again, the album is here https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1420552398233585.1073741876.100008...1

Before my PK-PQ adapter quit working, I was able to get a few photos of Queen Anne's Lace with the Q and SMC Pentax-M 50/1.4. These were at f/2.

Thanks for your reply rendition, for some reason I get "This content is currently unavailable" when I click on your Facebook link. I was wondering if the lenses would work individually by themselves (with an adapter of-course), I don't think I would be interested in those lenses if a separate rear element is required.

Thanks again.

Just getting around to updating the index.

Looks like no antique film camera is safe from Rendition's workshop, excellent!

Tony I hope you get your adapter sorted out soon.

Thanks Hans for covering when I go AWOL.

REMINDER TO CONTRIBUTORS:
Please put the name of the lens in the title block of the post so there is no question as to what will show up in the index. Otherwise we have to guess. Thanks.

Hi jacobsr:

Yeah sorry I think facebook is archiving my old albums/privacy, I'll look into it. Regarding the Keystone turret lenses, there are 3 FRONT lens but only ONE rear element. So you have the option is to pick one front len to work with one rear element. Otherwise you can go for second option, which retains all three front lens and rotate them for the rear element.

If you only pick ONE len, the other two lens will not work since there is no rear element, and thus you will need to find two other rear elements.

Also, you can add me on facebook https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100008365150515 and I maintain a Super 8 on Digital group on facebook.

Rendition.
