Hi Steve - those links are not working for me-- they instead link to my attachments which is weird.

Tamron TV 16mm f/1.4

The lens has no aperture ring, so you always shoot wide open.

SMC M 28/2,8 on the original Q

This lens is clearly usable on the Q, but the focal length is too long or too short for me (beacuse I have other lenses that can be used adapted;and this one on the Q is not unique compared to the DSLR). The quality is much better compared to Tamron Adaptall - 2 28/2.5 that I also tested. Anyway I post below some 100% crops (at f 5.6, converted from DNGs). This cheap lens matches Q-sensor quite good (I do not expect adapted lenses to produce as sharp 100% crops as it can be in case of DSLRs).

SMC Pentax - A 35 - 70 3.5 - 4.5

Both shots at 70 mm and, most probably, f 5.6. First image was slightly cropped. This lens seems capable. Some people may consider this as a good match for the Q as it is really compact and light.

Kern-Paillard Yvar 36mm f/2.8 AR Visifocus, SOM Berthiot Lytar 25mm f/1.9

For some reason, my separate posts got merged together, so I'm putting all these in a single post with both lens descriptions in the title.

All shot using a Pentax Q7

Kern-Paillard Yvar 36mm f/2.8 AR Visifocus with Fotodiox D-to-Q adapter

SOM Berthiot Lytar 25mm f/1.9 with Fotodiox C-to-Q adapter

Pentax 110 50mm @f/4 - macro

This is with the 110 50mm with an aperture mask disc to set f/4 and a diopter lens embedded in the PTX110-PQ adapter. The diopter lens is an uncoated 23mm diameter element from the ocular (rear) group of a 7x50 binocular. Estimated at about 5X power, I produces close to 1:1 macro effect with good DoF as used.

This is the 110 50mm f/2.8 lens on the Q7 with an aperture mask disc to set f/4. Target at ~10 feet.

T2 mount

Another contribution concerning the Q-T2 adapter, used to fix a telescope. I use the famous Orion ED80T-CF. That's a particularly sharp lense. Some examples already posted.

I can see why it's famous, that moon shot is miles (384 000 000m) better than my efforts with the F*300/4.5
TBA next ?

3 D and C mount lenses compared to the Q 01

  1. Pentax 01 Standard Prime Lens 8.5mm f/1.9 (Q mount)
  2. Yashica Yashinon 13mm f/1.4 (D mount)
  3. SOM Berthiot Lytar 25mm f/1.9 (C mount)
  4. Kern-Paillard Yvar 36mm f/2.8 AR Visifocus (D mount)

Taken with a Pentax Q7. The RAW images were processed under color management in Lightroom 4. The only postprocessing done was to remove the default lens correction (I have my importing set to apply lens correction for the Q 01 lens; need to fix that now that I have a bunch of other lenses), apply the color profile for the lens, and set the white balance to 4000K. Any variation should be due to the lenses themselves. Color profiles were generated using an X-Rite ColorChecker Passport.

I meant to keep the subject size consistent in the frame. Obviously failed in that. I didn't intend this to be a FOV comparison.

Each image was originally 4000x3000. I lined them up, full size, in Gimp. Then scaled the composite image down for uploading.

The Yashinon seems to have a glow very suitable for portraiture. The Lytar has especially pleasing color. But each of these lenses looks great.

So these are 100% crops? 320 pixels across?

There's a better way - I just happened to have a trashed binocular around when the thought struck. See: 45

It's worth exploring any 1" single element.

No, each image was originally 4000x3000. I lined them up, full size, in Gimp. Then scaled the composite image down for uploading. Let me know if that answers your question.

Yep all answered. Impressive results. Is the yashica always distinctly warmer than the other lens?
