Adapting Honeywell HLM28V8F95 2.8-8 mm, F0.95

I received my Q at xmas, and I've already lined up lenses to try and adapt.

This lens will likely be my first attempt:

A zoom at F0.95?

I will let you know when it arrives and post some samples.

Just looking at the image the lens shown is a CS mount that can not mount to the Q using a C adapter. I have ordered several C mount cctv lenses and was sent CS instead and they will not work. The CS lens mounts 5mm closer to the sensor than the C mount lens so you can adapt a c mount lens to a CS camera but not a CS lens to a C mount camera sorry, for the bad news.

Clinton, welcome to the Q forums. You will have lots of fun with the Q. Can hardly wait to see what you will hook to your Q. It is going to be an interesting year for sure.

hnikesch is correct about C vs CS. Even CS lenses have a longer register distance than the Q. No one seems to make a CS adapter yet. You could have the C adapter cut own by a machine shop. One poster used a body cap and glued the lens inside. Doubt that would work here with the big lens. Drooling over your fast zoom.
thanks

I received a 2.5mm CS when I ordered a C mount. I tried to hold the lens in front of the Q but could not get it close enough to the sensor to focus because of the lens contacts in Q mount.

I believe that @daadaa in https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-q/175486-almost-perfect-q-img-heavy.html has successfully used a CS mount lens on the Q. I've picked up the fotodox C adapter, which I believe with a small Allen wrench can be used in this manner.

If not, the lens was $18

I have the fotodiox C adapter with the removable insert and tried the CS with the insert removed. My problem may have been that on the 2.5mm CS that I was trying to mount the lens extended into the camera beyond the thread mount of the lens and hit the lens contacts in the Q before I could get it close enough to focus . But all lenses are designed differently and I hope you have better luck. Please keep us informed as cheap C mount lenses are harder to find than the CS lenses. I am still looking for a wide 2.5mm or something close to that and the lens you are adapting would be great.

Hans

This particular lens just doesn't work.

My understanding is that the Q sensor is a little bigger than the 1/3 C format and a little smaller than the 1/2 C format. This particular lens doesn't project a big enough image circle. It's a bummer too because it is so small, and such an interesting focal length.
