Well, I could easily have bought one of each if I had the money and I have only seen one ½ episode of EVA.

Just had a Japanese-speaking friend read the article over, and he says it's going to come out this April - so no, it's not sold out yet. It's probably going to launch alongside the 3rd Eva movie.

but like VisualDarkness above, if I had the cash, I would've pre-ordered by now...

Of course: the text linked is the press release on 28th January announcing the launch of Q10 Evangelion models. Their release is indeed April 2013 as stated.

But please let your Japanese-speaking friend read the addition made in red to the text on 15th February

I'll help you/him: it states that orders have reached the number of products to be manufactured. That's what I call "sold out".
