Wide-Angle Prime for Q: What Would You Like?

In a couple of other posts, a few Pentaxians mentioned that they'd like a non-toy, native-mount, rectilinear, wide-angle, prime lens for the Q. Add my name to this list. Now, it may not matter, but on the oft-chance that someone from Pentax is reading this, what kind of effective focal length would tempt you to buy such a lens?

Myself, I'm thinking of something in the 20mm (equivalent) range. This might keep distortion down to tolerable levels... and might also mean that it is possible to build such a lens at an affordable price point. I'm thinking of an MSRP of $250-$300. I don't believe we can expect anything cheaper than that.

I also don't think this lens has to be especially fast. If they can give us f/2.8, I'd be thrilled. But I'd be quite happy with f/4.0.

Any thoughts?

I want one somewhere between 10-18mm and not slower than F4.5, feel free to accept the challenge Pentax!

The current roadmap shows something in the (more or less) 20mm to 30mm range (135-format equivalent). So maybe we'll get something 20-ish, but 10-ish doesn't seem in the picture. Funny to think about a lens with a focal length (actual) of less than 2mm.

I'm more interested in the macro lens in the roadmap.

If that 20mm turned out to be 22mm (equivalent), I'd still be pleased. 24mm? Maybe. But that's starting to get close to the wide position on the 02 zoom, which is f/2.8 at that point.

Somewhere in the 20 to 24mm equivalent range would be great. As a landscape photographer I'm fine with f2.8 or even f4.0.

I Quired my Q during the recent Qroupon event. My son wanted my Panasonic LX3, so I needed a small replacement. I really liked the LX3 since is was specifically setup for wide angle - 24 to 60mm @ f2 - f2.8 no less. So if the Q came out with something like a 20 or 20-40, that would be just perfect - f2 would be excellent.

Something around 3.5mm would probably be nice. Unlike most people here I consider f/2.8 to be slow in this format, so I would like it to be faster than that. (Or perhaps more accurately: I consider "fast" to be relative to the format.)

I understand the Q is not about fast lenses, but my CS mount 4mm f/1.2 lens is tiny (smaller than any Q lens, nearly covers the whole sensor), there's no reason Pentax couldn't make small lenses that are at least f/2. (The 01 prime is an example of this. I don't need the lens to smaller than that.)

Agreed. A prime in the 20-24mm (equivalent) range at f/2.0 would be perfect.
