Do we know what the focal length and aperture will be? I wonder how it will compare to the oft-maligned 04 Toy Wide?

If I remember the roadmap correctly it will be in the 40-50mm equivalent range.

Has Pentax ever said this is a pinhole lens? If so, I will probably pass. Pinholes don't work well on small sensors. If the lens has glass elements it could be interesting.
thanks

From the picture of it, it definitely is not a pinhole lens. You can see the glass.

Here's another body cap lens. This has been out for years. It's $21.

This should come included with the Q10 successor, IMO. Neat accessory, but not exactly worth buying on its own. Its "The Pentax Q11 comes with this really neat body cap that also works as a lens: one of the coolest accessories ever" vs "for 50 dollars you can also buy a freaking body cap that you can take pictures with"

A lens for a camera when you forget to bring your smartphone camera along.

Is it assembled in Japan?

Well, I did buy this camera because it was very compact so yes, that would be very cool. I would wait until it goes on sale or I could buy a used one.

Not sure if sarcastic comment... I maintain my position this should eventually be the default body cap supplied with the Q

We will need an optional tiny lens cap to keep from scratching the body cap glass element. And Qeople will actually buy it. (I probably would ). And filters.

Electrical tape with a little bit of paper to protect the lens!

Don't be crass, how about a 5mm UV filter?

I hope Pentax learns from the Olympus body cap lens. That has a lens cap builtin. Just slide it out of the way.

And the Oly has a focus lever... all for $50, so this Pentax better be very cheap.
