Dust under the protector? I tried to cut one that was for the NX1000 but I failed so hard with dust resulting in a huge number of bubbles.

I got one, it's nice. I got the ACMAXX 3.0" HARD LCD SCREEN ARMOR PROTECTOR Pentax Q Black White ( 230682518238 ) because I have one on my K-5 that has held up nicely and they have been highly praised here in the past.

I also got a hard one for my K-5 (under the GGS brand) and the good thing is that it is way easier to clean than the screen. The only problem is that it tends to get pushed against the screen in the center after some time, I got a pretty big blotch in the middle because of it.

I have an ACMAXX too. No problems so far. It does make strange blotches if pushed, but I don't think that's a problem.

I have a Delkin Devices DU3.0"--M that I got at the camera store a couple of years ago. It didn't fit my DSLR at the time, but, fits pretty close on the Q. The pop-up shade (which is removeable) doesn't help much, but the hard plastic screen protector is holding up well.
I found it today online at: Amazon.com: Delkin Devices DU3.0-M BLK Universal Pop-Up Shade for 3.0-Inch LCDs (Black): Camera & Photo

I cut down a dollar store iPhone protector. (2 pack for a buck.) One little bubble near the edge, but it keeps the screen from getting banged up. I'd put a hard protector on, but the thickness would be an issue for using my LCD loupe.

I put a cut-down PalmPilot soft protector on my K10D in 2006 or 2007 (I forget) and it has protected that LCD just perfectly - and is clear as the glass. Certainly has held up better than the one I paid mucho dinero for at the Apple Store when I traded the Palm for an iPhone.

I don't even bother any more with cameras or phones - and I've never scratched either (fingers crossed).

I use generic 'cut it yourself' stick on protectors just to keep the lcd from getting scratched.
If I mess up I get many tries for cheap.

Respectfully I find this a poor solution. The film often bubbles and does scratch easily. The ACMAXX 3.0" HARD LCD SCREEN ARMOR PROTECTOR has worked well for me. Just saying.

Use a hard screen protector on my Q. No one even notices it on the camera. Looks stock. Installing it requires perfectly clean screen. At first got Newton rings, when protector was pushed it was guaranteed. Learned to use heat from blow dryer on lcd to remove moisture. Then apply protector.
thanks

I'm using a Giotto's SP8300 glass screen protector. They're a little pricey, but they've always worked well for me on all my cameras. Its almost a perfect fit, maybe a millimeter or so on each side is obscured, but its never bothered me. Haven't had one crack on me yet nor scratch, and they seem optically clear.
