Like the Zeikos multi hood. Still haven't invested in a lcd magnifier. Need to look into it more. You have posted great info for beginner and advanced users. Keep experimenting. It is part of what makes the Q so much fun.
thanks

I went for a budget LCD viewfinder but I have heard great things about the high end adjustable ones. Also this one does not have a diopter adjustment but the view is very crisp.

I'm using the same LCD loupe as you, so far it's working great for me.
I my case I did need to drill out the tripod mount hole a bit to be able to get the frame away from the buttons.
Maybe there is some variance in the build of these, if so perhaps you can post a link to where you bought yours?

Oh that's right! You recommended it to me. I also had to drill it but I totally botched the job. It is pretty mangled but I fixed it up with wire and felt tap. As brittle as this frame is...it can sure take a lot of abuse! I think without the modification it would be covering 1/3 of the left corner button.

Here is the link: Amazon.com: LCD V5 2.8x Magnifier Viewfinder Eyecup Extender Magnetic Hood For Nikon J1, V1: Electronics

Shipping was very quick from the seller.

I've had the same hood for a year and used it on my P&S, I also mangled the drill out, I had to add a washer and move the snap ring but now it works great.

Washer sounds like a better long term fix. I'll try that next. Thanks!

If you are modifying the tripod mount use a dremel instead of a drill for a much neater job. I will try to find a washer thin enough to hold the tripod screw in place, as I modified my adapter yesterday.
