My whole Weber collection cost less than an egg.

I just have to say a Weber Kettle collection is just about the most unusual gear addiction to support a hobby I've ever seen. Do you ever say to yourself something like, "I haven't used the mini Red one in 6 months. If I don't use it - out it goes!?"

I love it!!

I'm thinking about building a giant Qez Dispenser. Picture a Pez dispenser that spits out Pentax Qs rather than little candies.
Please don't give Pentax any ideas.
thanks

I was debating on whether or not to get the Q and part of the reason was even though the IQ of the 01 was appealing, not having a wide angle prime option was what was making it tough. Seeing some of the zoom images in the beginning made me wary of it, but some of the newer images seemed a lot better so figured what the hell, may as well dive in with this deal. We'll see when it gets here how much I like it, but I'm thinking it will be good for tradeshows with work as well as all of the travelling I do if I don't want to take the K5

There are still locals on Craigslist trying to sell their Q's for $300-400 !

I bought my second Q thinking that they were going to run out. Looks like the Q factory is still in operation

I am starting to wonder if that (flooding the market at a loss) is Ricoh's plan, since the decision to make the Q-mount system was not theirs, but it's continued use will mean a revenue stream (and compact mirrorless product line) for them in the long run...
I've thought that as well. If they're trying to flood the market, it looks like it's working. :-)

The Q has been discontinued for a while now - this is just vendors with inventory getting rid of the old stuff.

It didn't sell very well outside Japan at its pre-discount prices. My guess is that they sold <20% of their original run at anything near their MSRP.

I don't have an egg because they are too expensive, but I do live walking distance from their 'world headquarters'. They used to have eggtoberfest there, but it got too big. They still have eggfest a couple times a year there and it is fun to walk around and eat for free.

Oh, and I have a Q arriving tomorrow.

I doubt Newegg, or whoever is doing the Groupon deals, actually had thousands of Q kits in stock prior to discontinuation, waiting to be closed out. These deals show up, sell out, then show up again. This is clearly inventory that Pentax/Ricoh USA is dumping, and using these outlets to do it. The prices are still being set by the vendors to make some profit...
