Q and 06 zoom

Considering getting the 06 zoom to complement my 01 prime. Haven't seen any reviews of this lens. Has anyone here used it? Recommended?

I have the 06 zoom. Being winter and ugly outside, I've only made a few test shots with it so far - I'll see if I can dig up a pic or 2 taken with it. For me, being a primarily long lens shooter, it was a no brainer for me to get this lens. I will use it daily in the warmer months when out on the deck watching the wildlife come by.

In terms of image quality, I would rate it better than the 02 zoom, and just a tad under the 01 prime. Being a constant f2.8 lens has big advantages for me as I shoot in the shade of the forest canopy a lot. I feel it is a very nice compliment to my 01 prime lens - as a matter of fact the only 2 native lenses I have are the 01 prime and the 06 zoom and feel that is everything I need for the Q.

Here's a couple examples. Please remember that these are just test shots - no artistic value here at all! And also these were all taken without a hood being I just received my hood a couple days ago. The images are clickable for a larger version.

Interesting pics I saw on Flickr, Pearsaab.

So, this is •15mm-45mm (equivalent to 83mm-249mm in 35mm format) ... and it is f2.8 constant throughout the zoom range. Very impressive for such a small lens, really.

Have you had the chance to compare the IQ of the 06 vs. any other lens with a similar range?
It would be interesting to check this with a side by side comparison with, let's say, a Pentax DA18-250 (or its Tamron eq.).
I used to own the 18-250mm ... my son has it now, lucky for him.
I suppose a better comparison would be with the DA*60-250 but that would be really trying to compare a VW Beetle to a RollsRoyce, wouldn't it?

I like the sample shots: quite detailed and right on focus.

Can't wait to see more sample shots with the 06 lens.

As I also asked Pearsaab, what do you think of the IQ if you were to compare it to similar 35mm-eq lenses.
From what I am seing here, and from Pearsaab's post (link), it looks quite good.

I am just about reasy to hit the button and order it along with the q-K adapter. (was supposed to have the adapter quite a while back but ... long story).

Cheers!

You seem to be shooting it more stopped down than I'd expect. Is this because you're used to a bigger format or because the lens isn't good more open?

Got my 06 a few weeks ago but haven'T had much time to play with it.

The few shots I took gave me great image quality, MUCH better than what I can achieve with my 02.

The only "complaint" (no not really a complaint) is that the Q + 06 are so light together that at full zoom I have a hard time keeping the combo stable
