New Q user

Hi all,

I'm new here, despite having been a Pentax user a few years back (K110D) and I have just bought a Q kit (Lenses 01 and 02).

This little camera is surprisingly good, replacing a Panasonic GF1, and I am extremely impressed with the low light performance of the camera. All the adaptor options make it even more useful and I'm looking forward to having a bit of fun with astrophotography.

Are there any "must have" accessories for the Q? I would like a half-case if I can find one for reasonable money but, apart from this, I don't really know what I should look for.

Regards

Wiggly

Check out the accessories thread here: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-q/189966-what-q-accessories-worth.html.

I especially recommend the JJC lens hood for the 01 Prime along with a 25mm pinch cap to go with it.

Welcome!

There's also a Q astrophotography thread that could use some more action:

I've been waiting for better weather to try again.

Hi again,

I have the conical hood for the prime and I must say it is rather neat. I'm pretty sure I'll be losing the teeny cap so I'll have to devise some way of tethering it.

I would be very interested in putting together some sort of off-camera wired flash; I have a Nissin Di622 for Nikon so I guess a curly flash lead is the way forward.

Having been out taking some photographs today I have to say I'm still really pleased with the Q and it will be doing lots of travelling with me!
