That you paid $90 for it doesn't make it a $90 camera! It is a pricey little accessory. It would be nice to see the price come down. But I would imagine that, outside this forum, probably less than 1% of Q buyers would have any interest in a K-mount adapter. For me it was a no-brainer; the main reason I bought the Q in the first place was to use it with K-mount lenses, and I want the built-in shutter and better flash support offered by the Pentax adapter.
Oh, I agree. And my original plan was to use my Q with adapted lenses only also. I'll get the adapter....I will..

I only got my first Q in December - off season for me to be shooting wildlife around here. Once I get using it on a daily basis come spring time I know I will have to have the proper adapter.

Ah, I thought I had read all the pertaining threads, but missed the reviews.
crewl1 stated:
"Direct comparison of similar scenes between the Pentax adapter and a Fotodiox version yielded similar results."
So I think I'll hold out for now.

Thanks for the comments and links!
This is still my opinion.
I now have the Pentax but wouldn't have an issue using the Fotodiox for long lens, tripod mounted applications where the tripod is attached to the lens ring.

The Pentax adapter gives advantage in:
-handheld applications where the shutter helps avoid jello effect
-applications where you need to use flash at higher than 1/13 second
-where you need to mount a heavy lens without its own tripod mount, the Fotodiox tripod foot is not to be trusted

For best results make sure to paint or otherwise coat the internal surface of the Fotodiox to eliminate reflections.

See this post for comparison pictures https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-q/205119-original-pentax-q-pk-adap...ml#post2184381

I thought some may be interested in my workaround for supporting unsupportable lenses

A macro rail, a plumbing fitting with some felt and a spacer.

This should allow me to support a variety of lenses by changing the fitting and/or the spacer.

(Chinese Fotodiox style adapter, blue tape to stop accidental aperture adjustment)
