Q10 vs Q

I haven't been able to find anything on the updated Q10 vs the original Q. At the bargain price: is the original Q worth buying or would you up to the new Q10. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. I had the 110 pentax 30 years ago and loved that as a travel camera...looking at the Q for that function

In terms of IQ and features they're basically the same, assuming you've updated your Q's firmware. Some claim that the Q10's files aren't as good because of new noise reduction algorithms. I think the only significant difference apart from updated looks is that the Q10 offers a slower minimum shutter speed (1/13s vs 1/30s or something like that). Get the original Q at the discounted price if you can find it- the Q10 is certainly not worth more than twice as much!

What Adam said plus the build quality is significantly more robust for the Q too.

The 1/30 (Q10) vs 1/13 (Q) difference is flash sync with lenses without shutters, other than that everything shutter related is the same as far as I know. (Max 2s without shutter, min 1/8000 without shutter, max 30s timed with shutter (but can bulb longer, I think), usually min 1/2000 with shutter, min 1/1000 with the Pentax K adapter.)

The original Q is a tank of beauty, go for it! The kit with the 01 and 02 lens is a steal but if I have to choose one I take the 01 seven days a week.

If you look at the DXOmark comparison, it seems that the sensor has been tweaked to provide slightly better base imaging (claimed ISO 100 vs. 125 which in real world is much closer to 64 vs. 80), which in turn improves dynamic range at the base setting; all at a cost of poorer performance on the high ISO end of it where the Pentax system is already at a disadvantage compared to the apparent competition.

In the long run, certainly the Q should have greater value because it has the metal chassis - and is the first of the kind. It would be especially collectible if the LCD had an AR screen coating like the *istD did.
