Got a Q? Then get a MX-1!

Seriously, why not? The Q is great with adapted lenses, while the MX-1 is great for pointing and shooting!

See the review here:

Pentax MX-1 Review

Or just get the MX-1
Am I the only one on the forum who's got one?

If it wasn't for the fact that I just got a DA* and I'm not allowed to buy anything more right now... xD

Probably the only one with a Q and the MX-1.

To my mind, they are almost at opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of buyers... unless you count the "buy it because it has a Pentax badge on it (somewhere)" types. (Hey, I know it's your job!)

Once this thing drops about 100 bucks, I will snatch it up

I for one think the swiveling LCD is a big selling point (it was knocked in the review). It makes candids much easier because you don't have to bring the camera up to your face and you can accurately frame a shot at shoe level! The small negative that it makes it "less visually appealing" is greatly outweighed by the added utility.

I'm kinda tapped out "trying out new genres" of Pentax cameras.
First the Q and then the K-01.

Enough already with "trying new things". It's about time we got the new APS-C camera and the new flash.

If the price drops a bit more, say for around $250, then I might pick one up. But at $500 that's too close to a K5 classic.

After 2 Q's, 01, 02 Q > K adapter , tripod foot and some little stuff, with absolutely serious intent, I told my wife, "No more buying until a FF." She said, "You can't go that long."

The only thing(s) on my radar are

1) Sigma 85mm f1.4
2) Samyang Tilt shift 24mm
3) D FA 100 f2.8 Older style non-WR.
4) Sigma 500mm f4.5
5) Last blow-out of the Q
6) Last blow-out of the K-01
7) Another O-GPS-1
8) Two K3 bodies and grips in April
9) The FF next year
10) K30 sub $500
11) New Flash

I guess there are probably others, but at this point, the MX-1 is not even on the list.

Yep. Pentax has to give us the APS-C upgrade to the K5 within the next 90 days.
They don't have much of a choice given that the FF frame and 645DII are on their way. If they wait any longer, it will be a mess.

LOL..."On the Radar" means if an opportunity arises, then I will buy one of those items! So many rumors swirl at any given time, that I have multiple radar "targets" that I think about. At the moment the MX-1 is not a target.

I could swear on one of the Denver Open Box Sale threads someone wrote he was told by a Pentax Rep, "Good things are coming," but when pressed he wouldn't elaborate. Try as I might, I can't find the post.

{EDIT] Found it!

I might just have to start using my 2012 sig line again.

Be of good cheer . . . . .
