Dear Forum Member,

My name is Nick Fan, the designer of this tripod foot and popular Nodal Ninja pano heads.
First of all, I would like to express my appreciation for Panoguy for contacting me to develop such a product. He has even sent me his Pentax tripod foot for reverse engineering at his own cost. I judge he is a very enthusiastic contributors in Pentax user community. At the beginning, the original lens ring clamp was not available separately. So I decided to give it a try knowing that this will be a very very small market. Later, I was informed of the availability of the original lens ring clamp. But I have invested considerable time in it development and even bought a DA 60-250mm for testing my prototypes. I decided to refine (at a higher cost) the prototypes to the current state that I really fall in love with. The beauty of the rig is only revealed by mounting it on the lens. It forms a coherent part of the lens and looks much better than an add on Arca style plate on the tripod foot.

The items will be available by the end of May.

Thanks for your interest.

Nick

Count me in for two!

Any chance you can make something for the DA* 200mm F/2.8?
Wouldn't it be cool if a ring was made to accept your clamp?
There are quite a few Pentax lenses that could do with a ring/tripod attachment!

Oh, interesting! I may buy one in the future for my DA* 300/4 as I often use an arca-swiss compatible tripod head.

Sorry for violating the forum rules.
I will post the items in the market place when available.

some info in response to forum inquiry.
I will probably make the lens plate in lengths of 100mm, 85mm and 70mm. 70mm fits the original tripod foot and most Canon and Nikon tripod foots. I will make one final mod to the clamp to allow the plate to be mounted horizontally as requested by some forum members.

I wasn't one of those who made that request, but it is an excellent idea and a feature I would certainly use.

Great news!!

I have a Nodal Ninja 3mkII, RD16 and EZ-Leveler II and love the quality of these products! Needless to say that I'm looking forward to seeing this alternative tripod foot from Fanotec. Count me in!

After setting up the Pentax adapter with the Fanotec prototype foot, I took some photos for the "Show me your pimped Q" thread. Looks pretty nice (and is very stable) with the 100mm Macro WR:
