Re: Should be shooting in RAW -- Yeah, That's what I heard will give the best image quality, but I'm such an amateur I wouldn't know what to do with a RAW image, and everything I save or post is in *.jpeg format anyway. That's my next step: learning the basics.

Also, I assume there is no new firmware for anything other than the 01 standard prime and the 02 standard zoom. I haven't been able to find anything for the 06 telephoto zoom, for example.

Do you actually have all those lenses?
You only need to update the firmware of the lens you have (and attached to the camera when updating it)

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned else where but Pentax Canada still has FW 1.11 on their site. I haven't come across any bugs myself and the focus is so improved they could have taken every other feature out tf the camera and I would still be happy

I notice Q's screen image shakes when it is turned on - caused by SR, maybe? I don't know if it was like this before 1.11 but it now does this every time Q is turned on. It is big shake IMO.

Obviously a revised version is in the works - how soon it will be available is anyone's guess, but I'll bet it won't be too long.

I always assumed is was calibrating the SR position. It's always done it as far as I rememeber. (I'm still on 1.10, definitely does it there.)

This statement is displayed in the English version of the Japanese website since March 29th.

The statement in the Japanese version of the Japanese website, which appeared on the same date, is even more explicit:

"We just found a bug in the firmware version 1.11. We will cancel the download for the time being."

According to the manual, the Q doesn't do this. I didn't see that any of the updates added this either but I could be wrong. It would be a handy feature to have.

I have version 1.00 with a new Q so I guess I am stuck with that as it says they are updating 1.10

For what it's worth, I've been using my Q a lot with the original v1.11 firmware file that was originally linked to the forum. Maybe there's a bug with the tone expansion feature, I dunno... I haven't checked that feature since I never use it anyway. But in all other respects, I haven't noticed any problems, and the AF is hugely improved in every way, so I will continue to use it.

If you (or anyone else) need the original v1.11 firmware that was originally posted to the forum, (the same one I'm using) I've uploaded it to a server. You can get it here.

1) Click the grey "Download This File" button
2) enter the captcha code
3) click the grey "Download Now" button below the code you just entered to download the file.

Thanks, I tried to use it using the instructions but I can't get it to update to anything, it does not recognize the updates. My files are downloaded as zip files, tried unzipped and zipped, and I have followed the the instructions of formatting a new card and hitting the right arrow once you see the version you have on the screen and nothing happens
