Ah you kids, you gotta have the latest and greatest right now!
But this old timer sat back and waited until the kinks were worked out.
I held off on upgrading to 1.11, and then on 1.12 until the official release.
Add in the fact that I'm tech challenged, and afraid of bricking the little sucker.

My old 2,700+ shutter count camera is new again!
And oh my, what fast AF it now has!

True, true but the Fibonacci sequence starts "0" Going against the wind (I'm a Bob Seger fan) I am using 1.12 I see no degradation in AF from 1.11 if anything a slight improvement in dark area AF but that may just be a figment of my imagination.

Of course you know with a faster auto focus, it will wear out quicker, and Pentax will be selling more cameras/lenses

I assume since I have 1.11 saved in a folder on my hard drive, if I experiment with 1.12 on my second Q and if I don't like it as well I can reinstall 1.11 without any issues.

I don't think you can. THe firmware normally warns that if you upgrade you won't be able to restore to an older firmware. However, I've never tried to do it.

Well then I guess I can still be the guinea pig if Q2 becomes my dedicated Qonverter body. I never much like the looks of White anyway

I've downgraded heaps of times from 1.10 to 1.01 and so on, and it always let me do it.

I updated mine this morning from and skipped 1.11 entirely. Now, every time I switch the camera on the date and time gets reset to New York and 2011. I tried it 4 times and it works OK until you switch the camera off. Also video setting resets from PAL to NTSC . I can't see what I'm doing wrong so I assume it must be the firmware.

I skipped 1.11 too, but no problems at all with 1.12, no date etc resets after shutting down.

Make sure you you answer OK to 'Settings complete' before you hit menu after you enter settings. If not then get the behavior you are seeing.
