Pentax Q Firmware 1.12

I just got informed that Pentax Q firmware 1.12 has landed on the (internal) European Pentax servers. So it shouldn't take long till it is available to the public.

Cool. I think I'll wait to install it 'til I hear how the AF performance is vs. the current "buggy" version. (which I have yet to experience a bug with.) Don't want to give up that blazing AF speed. :-)

+1 - the Pentax Japan site still has 1.11 listed with the disclaimer "We are sorry to inform you that the software version 1.11 is temporary not available."

Somebody who gets update notifications regarding changes made to server content. He promised to send me the file. I'm on the road right now. Will report back later.

I wanted to apologize that I didn't introduce myself yet. But as I said ... on the road right now. In a nutshell: Pentaxian since I bought my first LX back in 1980.

Well, heh. I have two Q's and the 1.11 files saved on HD so I can be the guinea pig.

Here we go. I haven't used 1.11. But AF, especially with the 02 lens seems a lot snappier. Don't have time for further tests. Hope 1.12 will be available soon to the public.

Howdy... Ya know... Since you already have the file, if you wanted, you could upload it so everyone else could have a crack at it. It's free and takes less than a minute. Here's what I did with version 1.11:

1) Go to filedropper.com

2) Click the "upload file" button

3) Choose the firmware file on your computer

4) Click the "open" button

5) After file uploads, copy the link under the words "Link To Share This File With Anyone"

6) Come back here & paste the link in a message to let us know where it is.

Just throwing that idea out there. :-)

Cheers,
Bob :-)

As with every firmware update: use at your own risk!

Just FYI - Norton is blocking this download because of Low Reputation. If you can't find the q_v112.exe file on your hard drive check with the Norton software. It can be restored but Norton fights you on it.

Hey I tried 1.11 so I might as well try 1.12, so far it's working great. AF is as fast as 1.11 Tone expansion is back but the shutter count is still reset to "0" I have a new camera again

I did have to fight Norton
