This is ist the 1.12 *.zip contained in the q_v112.EXE: http://www.filedropper.com/fwdc601p_2

Maybe Norton is less picky with non executable files. And this may also help Mac users.

As with every firmware update: use at your own risk!

This is the uncompressed original 1.12 *.bin: http://www.filedropper.com/fwdc601p_1

EXEs do raise more red flags with Norton than others but ZIPs do to some extent too. I got it to work I just had to tell Norton that I wanted it restored, yes - I definitely want it restored & Yes, I understand that it might be a risk.

They can actually, though I don't know what program to use exactly. It's an lha archive with a self extractor, and as such anything that will unpack lha should be able to handle it. (On my Debian system I can unpack it with the lha command from the lhasa package.)

I've never understood why sending around executables (a fantastic way to pick up malware) instead of normal archives is so popular in the Windows world, but it's certainly not limited to camera makers. (Trying to run the exe through lha, zip, rar and 7zip usually finds one that will unpack it.)

Hey I tried 1.11 so I might as well try 1.12, so far it's working great. AF is as fast as 1.11 Tone expansion is back but the shutter count is still reset to "0" I have a new camera again
Did it reset all of your custom settings like v1.11, or just reset the shutter count?

It reset everything just like 1.11 I used the shutter counter on our site and it was a 400 after usage from 1.11 install, now at 6 after some test shots with 1.12

Just downloaded both files to check size and integrity. They look OK. I decided though to remove the link to the BIN file as there is a risk that the file gets corrupted during it's way through the net - which is very bad for firmware. With a ZIP file you should at least get a warning if there is any corruption.

! Rather DO NOT use the uncompressed BIN file !

Use the bin file which is included in the ZIP or EXE instead. Sorry for not thinking about that earlier.

File names, sizes and dates: q_v112.EXE (8.162.715), fwdc601p.zip (8.133.616 / 9.4.2013 / 10:02), fwdc601p.bin (15.597.792 / 5.4.2013 / 16:11)

To my knowledge firmware updates always reset the settings. Write down your custom settings first. Can't comment on shutter count as I used 1.12 on one of my Q's I haven't used yet.

Yes, firmware has always reset the settings but I do not recall a previous firmware for my K-5, K-x, K-r, or Q (prior to v1.11) that reset the image count to zero.

Very frustrating, guess I have to wait for official release. The exe file does not work either I get this:
"The compressed (zipped) folder is corrupted"
I tried the download several times and still only 135KB,looks like just the Folder w/nothing in it.

Clear your history and then reload the page, that can do the trick.

History and cache (in case clearing history does not include clearing the cache in your browser). Which browser are you using?

Thanks for posting these files. I just upgraded to v1.12 using the zip file, works great. Did anyone check to see if tone expansion works again? Anyone suddenly find their lenses are now f0.9?

Hi Pentaxoe
Thahk's for all the help and tips.Cleaned everything, still only downloads a zipped Folder that is empty(it's"corrupted".
I'm running IE8.Never had this sort of thing happening in 39+years of computing.I guess I'll stick with v111 untill Ptax
releases the file on the Website.
Or maybe someone can e-mail the Bin File to me?
