Adam,
I don't know. Amazon lists the MAP as $349 - which is itself a large jump. Pentax's webstore isn't the best source I grant you but the foot fr the adapter jumped from $50 to $89 too.

Well, it's certainly going to spike sales in the short term, but I think it's a pretty pointless move. Even among our members, the Q didn't start becoming popular until it became available for $250...

At least two separate 06 listings on eBay have been pulled that were in the $250ish range. They are now $299-$409.

That's good to hear. Is it a US Warranty lens?

The lens comes in official Pentax box and all the paperwork is global but includes US warranty locations and numbers, it's the same warranty info I got with my Q. So I assume it's US Warranty

In light of the price hike, I also ordered the 06 from ValleySeek. Wish me luck.

For those just ordering the 06, here's a link to a US supplier for the JJC clone hood for this lens. It's thicker plastic than the JJC clone for the 02, fits via bayonet, and reverses for storage, just like the OEM.

The Official hood from Pentax is around $40 as I recall. Nice savings on that one!

Scott can you extent the lens to working position with the hood reversed and can you zoom it with the hood reversed for use in shade.

Hi Hans,

With the hood reversed, it covers the rubber part of the zoom ring with the lens in storage position. You could rotate the ring by gripping the metal lower part, but it's very difficult. I mount the hood in its normal position right after mounting the lens to the body and just leave it there until I change to another lens. I don't use protective filters, so hoods are my first line of protection for the front elements of my lenses.

I assume it's the same size as my JJC hood, so I'll give a second opinion. Getting the lens out of storage position and using it with the hood reversed is perfectly doable, getting it back in storage position a little harder but not really a problem. At least when I just tried, I always leave the hood on and facing forward.

(I never use protective filters and rarely use caps on lenses with hoods.)
