i got an itch

i have been playing with the idea of getting a fisheye...so the question is do i get the 03 fisheye for the q for <100 or do i get a regular fisheye for my k5 and then the question would be would the fisheye still act like a fisheye on the q with a q-k adapter...thoughts?

Get the 03. A regular fisheye (i.e. about 10mm) on an adaptor will give you the angle of view of a normal lens, with worse IQ (and much slower) than the 01 prime.

I like my 03 a lot. The Samyang 8mm is good too. The 03 is a lot cheaper and smaller, the 8mm is kinda big. I find I use the 03 a lot more.

Sandy's right. A DSLR fisheye is going to give you what amounts to a normal focal length on the Q, so that's not gonna work at all.

Get the 03. In my quest to save some money, I tried several c-mount fisheyes (which were all garbage) before finally breaking down & buying the 03. The 03 is definitely the way to go with the Q. It's a solid little performer.

you will have loads of fun with the 03 !! about the only reason you'd want one for your DSLR is if you plan on doing a lot of night shots ..

Here's an 03 shot that gives some perspective on the level of distortion and fishiness of the lens.

This is one of my favorites using the fisheye - it can be a lot of fun - definitely need to use it some more!
