My message was for @pickone, sorry for the confusion.

What I do for my Q videos is copy them to the computer hard drive, then use Windows Live Movie Maker to save them as HD 1080P.
The output file format becomes wmv.
The output of this is what I upload to youtube.
Haven't had any issues yet but most of my videos are very short.

I have XP and it says LIVE is not available so I am searching for I found Windows Movie maker 2.1 included in XP service Pack 2 which will not open the .MOV files, say it is an unsupported file type, rats.

I have a Win 7 machine, it is possible there are some limitations with the MOV format on XP. Do short videos work OK?

The couple I tried to use before did and my KX videos worked OK too.

I believe the K-x used a different file format, AVI.

Try the freeware version of VideoPad.
I use it for 90% of my video clip production for YouTube.
A small learning curve but it has quite a number of features and tricks once you get used to it.
