The best choise for street photography

It's so small! Even it's smaller than a point&shoot!

(It's a photomontage)

Compared to 01 Standar Prime:

A very interesting lens. Must be fixed focus and will have to be used with the electronic shutter. Sure makes the Q pocketable! The slightly tele focal length feels a little strange for Q/Q10. A bigger sensor Q7 would make it a more normal focal length. Good addition to the Q family.
thanks

Check out the winners of point & shoot contest #66 in the compact camera forum. Enter #67. The Q is welcome.

Honesty I think it will be impossible to beat the 8.5mm and the Fisheye for street shots but who knows can't wait to play with it.. nice photoshop btw lol

I can't imagine the lens cap will have good enough image quality for any serious work. The 01 and 03 do just fine, however.

Cesium, why do you think the Mount Shield Lens won't be good quality? Olympus makes a similar lens that is pretty good. The Pentax XS40 that shipped with the K-01 is body cap thick and a great performer. Notice the new Q lens isn't called a toy lens.

60mm equivalent focal length is a little tight.

Agree, and f8 is seriously limiting, both in terms of shutter speed and resolution (diffraction). This is clearly a lens for outdoor use, but with no hood there's potential for flare. Don't mount cap lenses usually have trouble with CA/PF? I'd like to get excited about this lens, but so far I'm not feeling it.

This lens appears to be a pan focus lens set to the hyperfocal distance. Doubt there is any focusing recquired or allowed. The toy tele is f8 and surprisingly sharp. There was a similar lens for the Pentax 110 system. It is the one lens I have never seen in person. Anyone shoot it on the 110 or Q?

60mm eq. is kind of tight to frame with, but if the new Q has a bigger sensor it would make it closer to a 50mm eq. Not a bad lens. Good grab and shoot focal length.

The lens elements are Quite small and appear to be recessed far into the lens. So a hood is built in. Doubt there will be much problem with flare. The Q fisheye does well with no hood.

Will be interesting to see how this lens performs. The Q system is moving forward. Hang on.
thanks

I noticed that while browsing someone's photos, impressive flare resistance. Shockingly good for a lens with a protruding front element.

For comparison, how pocketable is the Q with just the 01 Standard prime or the fisheye?

The Q with the 01 lens, UV filter and hood easily fits in my pocket.

I won't even tolerate my Blackberry in my pants pocket, let alone a camera. I use a belt case, for my phone and my Q.

For me, Q with the 01 and its hood and cap aren't really pocketable in a jacket. I just added the neckstrap, which I seem to like much better since it is so small and light.

Q with the Mount Shield lens I would consider a truly capable pocketable camera in the sense of the XA or GR.

The pictures published on DPReview don't look that good (euphemism alert):

Cheers!
