Thanks barondla, most of my 03 shots are "creative" and use heavy in camera processing as this is still the same lens that went thru the washing machine in my pockets, and has water damage inside the elements which does show up on bright photos.

I'll have to order a new one one of these days.

Are you kidding? I thought I was done with CBA and LBA once I had gotten used to the K5 and the lenses I own. But no, someone had to mention the discounted Q and everything started all over again!

A couple of shots from a motor museum

I've been to a private motor museum yesterday where several old motors where started for the visitors.
There where about 100 visitors and many where attending the motor starts so it would have been difficult to get a good photo - at least without a fish eye.

1. Bicycle motor (not running)
2. Pre-war ship engine, sunk in WW2 by mine, hauled up again, constantly running from 1951 to 1963 (IIRC)
3. Jastram plane engine from 1909, 6 cyl, open lubrication circuit (Let me explain where the engine will throw it oil,... please step back...)
4. Old english motor, has been used until 1986 in rural area in south Germany - until the operators trouser was caught in some gears and he lost his nerve and connected to the electrical grid (didn't start)
5. Czecoslovakian agro plane engine from 1986, no exaust muffler, spitting flames - I wanted to make a film, but just made a photo

I'm very happy with my new Pentax 03 fish eye:
- The image quality is really good (see point 3)
- Q with lens is much smaller than my Sigma 8-16 so it will see much more use
- Depth of field is not big enough to forget about focussing
- focussing is easy (4x display, no peaking) but setting gets lost easily => have to cut some inner tube
- you have to get close to the action

It is a different kind of normal lens. When I enter an interesting and new place I look around, moving head an eyes and see about the same the fish eye is taking in. So its a great lens to show others "how it was there"

It was only a matter of time. You will enoy the 03 fisheye. May be the "most bang for the buck" lens around. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
Thanks
barondla

Nice subjects Altglas. It shows that you are having fun with the Q and 03 fisheye. The Sigma 8-16 is also a killer lens. Have one myself.
thanks

Should be on my front step when I get home
[{EDIT] Hah hah hah! What a blast! I didn't realize it is manual focus. Just about to go my wife up at the airport so I won't get to play much. I'll be reviewing her 02 Qhots of Denver and Wyoming (and if she lets me I'll post some).

Well, I've bitten the bullet and ordered my 03 lens. I have a trip to Lisbon and Sintra in a couple of weeks, and I think the Q+03 will complement my RX100 nicely. Looking forward to having some fun with this!
