Pentax Q7 High-ISO Samples from RAW

Same photos as in this thread, but developed from the raw files: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-q/228371-pentax-q7-high-iso-samples.html

For all but the last I used +30 sharpening, +30 luminance NR and +25 color NR.

My verdict is if you're willing to spend a little extra time in post and have good software, you're going to be able to get much cleaner files than the JPEGs produced with in-camera NR can offer. At ISO 1600 and above, I probably should have applied a bit more luminance NR to clean up the grain.

Great comparison Adam - now that's what I wanted to see!

Looks quite usable at ISO 400 - even ISO 800 isn't all too bad.

You might want to change the thread title to Q7 - it says Q right now.

IMO, this is not very impressive higher ISO for the larger sensor compared to the Q, set up the way I've found most productive. I've found that in most cases, correctly exposed shots at ISO 3200 are very usable for my purposes, which, of course, does not include printing large.

Here's a link to a post from early on in my Q experience (10/5/2011), when I was first trying to determine how far I could push the Q. Needless to say, I was impressed. . .

I'm including the resized-only full shot plus a 100% crop for easier comparison. This is at ISO 3200.

There was no PP to the downsized full shot, nor to the crop, and these were shot in jpeg. I could, of course improve them with PP, but it really wouldn't take much.

The ISO 3200 Q7 examples here would take a whole lot more correction in PP, and the jpeg example is really not usable IMO, but the camera settings weren't even close to optimal as I commented on in the original Q7 High ISO Samples thread.
