Yes, Ricoh is holding to their word about supporting discontinued models. Very positive step IMHO.

I rest my case.

Ricoh is carefully building a brand image and customer loyalty base for Pentax, one action at a time.

I am, forthwith, of good cheer.

Yes, they are also listing the Q7 as the "Top of the Line Q Model" indicating that they are a) continuing the Q10 for the foreseeable future and b) it looks unlikely that they are going to future enlarge the sensor mounted in the Q bodies.

Maybe not technically possible.

Hah. Isn't even released yet and already we want more.

Wait, what.....

Ricoh releases the "Smurf" K-01, so according to pentaxforums they're "dooming their brand image" and updates the Q-firmware despite the Q being discontinued, so therefore they're also "saving their brand image" - again according to pentaxforums.

Is Ricoh really a quantum company, able to exist in two mutually exclusive states concurrently - or, can I just not keep up any longer?

Well, I never said they were dooming the brand image. I said they are building the brand image.

Though the negative posters do have a point. It must feel to them as if Ricoh has adopted a stealth abandonment strategy of the high-end dSLR market they inhabit - i.e. never say you've left the market to CaNikOny; never say anything. Just gradually let the customer base erode by doing and saying ..... nothing.

Not that I'm saying they're doing that. I'm saying they're intentionally expanding the installed base of K-mounts in new customer households and they don't care what color wrapper is around the K-mount.

Loaded new firmware for the original Q, and the camera feels even snappier than before.
Would love to try that new 07 mount shield lens though — some samples done with it look very creative.

A Q6 would fit between the Q7 and K5... However I don't think they're going to do that.

Does the new firmware include being able to control the ND filter
and switch AF/MF from the Quick Dial?

(Apparently you can do that on the Q7).
