I guess they don't make money selling you such cheap parts [profit is in the labour charge]. Not a priority sale.

Its been like 3 months. Either some thing has gone wrong or they had to order it from Japan. Better give them a call. Not that calling them is that easy. Sigh. Feel sorry for the little Q.

thanks

Even if Ricoh won't sell parts anymore, they can be sourced online,
so here's some info you may find useful for disassembly of the original Pentax Q:

A Kayak Aerial Photography Method a behind (and above) the scenes look! | kayakfari ( kayak .. far .. i )

How do you trigger the Q to shoot with it being on the end of that long pole? Aghast that a tiny hand held IR remote can reach the Q all the way up there without some additional magic !

Edit* OIC you use timed repeating shots and pick the best ones. I was just thinking maybe you had used a long wire that ran up the pole.

Thanks 2old4toys! I found that using the interval timer at about 5 secs works best, just need to keep pole steady and as level as possible. Afterwards it's easy to cull 95% of the shots, you only need a few for even a 360 sweep.

@kayakfari
Im about to embark on a transplant to replace a scratched clear top LCD cover with a good one from a donor Q. Supposing that dismantling the Qs to the extend you did is not necessary for me but just need a sucker to pull it off the camera body after some warming up with hot hair dryer on high setting to soften up any adhesive trim holding it in place. Am I on the right track?

Removing the top cover is the first step, then the back comes off per what I previously posted.
I never separated the LCD glass from the back - I replaced the entire back cover as a unit!

Learned my lesson. Any recommendations for aftermarket screen protector with lots of anti reflection coating so as to improve visibility outdoors? The native bare plastic on the Q screen has nothing it appears. The QS1 is quite purple in the reflections so looks like coating were applied out of the factory.

So you separated the glass from the back?
For basic protection and glare I've been cutting out custom pieces from a large satin (not shiny) screen protector for an early tablet. Those things actually last for a while!
