I just received my new black Q. I got the kit with the 02 zoom lens. With a price just under 230 USD I just had to do it. Just got done updating the firmware for both the camera and the lens. I downloaded the 1.13 firmware, but the camera still says 1.12. Is the download really 1.13?

After reading all of the Q threads and seeing what fun things can be done with the Q, I just had to get one. I am not to thrilled with the plastic bodied Q10/Q7, so I opted to get the Q for now. Maybe I'll upgrade at some point in the future. I'm not expecting images equal to a 645D, or a Leica M9, but I am expecting to have a lot of fun with this camera, and to use it for family/grandchildren videos and snapshots.

Now to get an adapter, and then a ...

Echoing Hans, Welcome! Though a big fan of the original Q, which is the one I own, I handled the Q 10 at BH and liked the way it felt a lot. I can see myself upgrading to the Q 7, though the choice of colors is just the kind of thing to push me into complete indecisiveness.

Greetings woodpile. Glad you joined the Q. You will enjoy the Q, so much fun in such a small package. A few extra batteries are helpful. Post some pics when you have the time. WARNING! The Q is known for stealing quality photo time from other cameras.

@ felixkh: Yes, that's the one I downloaded. When I click on the "I agree. Start download" button, I get a "q_v112.zip" file. Then, after installed to the camera, the camera says it has "Version: 1.12". So I'm just wondering if it really IS version 1.13 or not.

Unzip the file on your desktop before putting it on the SD card, then activate it in the software menu on the camera. If its listing 1.12, then you don't have the latest...

That is odd, I went to that same 1.13 link just to test and the resultant file is 1.12 and it has the same filesize as the 1.12 zip that I downloaded earlier in the year.

They shouldn't have two different links to two different versions. Not good.

IIRC 1.13 messed with the Bold Monochrome filter (or somethng) so they left 1.12 up for people who wanted to roll back.

But don't quote me.
