In-Depth Q7 Review Coming Tomorrow

Our in-depth review of the Pentax Q7 will be posted our homepage tomorrow (September 17th). Stay tuned!

After we took a closer look at the Q7 and compared it to the Q, we discovered more enhancements than those originally mentioned in our first impressions. The in-depth review will include Q vs. Q7 comparisons as well as a comprehensive evaluation of the camera's performance.

Looking forward to reading it, thanks Adam. Does the review include any adapted lenses?

Yes, there's a comparison between the Q and Q7 w/ a 150mm lens.

Thanks Adam. The slider for comparing the two shots is very helpful. Out of curiosity, what method did you use to ensure correct focus on the two shots?

For those of you who have bought a hood for your 02 Standard Zoom, it vignettes quite significantly at 5mm on the Q7:

02 @ 5 with hood!

The good news is the lens gives quite good results without the hood. In both of these shots the sun is not far out of the frame at upper right.

02 @ 5

I will attack the corners of my hood and try again later....

Thanks for posting this, Sandy.

Beautiful house! Is that yours? It looks large enough to host the 1st Annual PentaxForums Convention.

Thanks Dave. Yes, that is my humble abode. Any Pentaxian convention in Adelaide would be incomplete without a gathering there; mid spring or late autumn are the best times.

For the record, I think the 02 is a little wider on the Q7 than has otherwise been suggested.
The next two shots were taken with the DA15 and DA*16-50 from exactly the same place as the second shot in the post above. I reckon the 02 is at least as wide as the DA15, with much better edge sharpness.

DA15

DA*16-50 @ 16

Ouch! I have just bought a Q7, and also a hood for my existing 02!

The vignetting has gone before 6mm, but I'll have to decide whether it is ever worthwhile using the hood.

(Thanks for the information).

Yes the Q7 is shown with a new hood design for the 02.
I will wait for the JJC edition.
