Anyone use a closeup lens on the 02?

Just wondering if anyone has experimented with using a closeup lens on the 02 zoom & if so, how'd it work out? Kind of would like to have a cheap & dirty macro solution that I can toss in the bag for occasional use. 40.5mm closeup lenses might be an odd duck to find, though... dunno.

Gibby,

I haven't tried it yet...but, I'll give it a try today and post some pictures. I have 49mm close-up filters (+1, +2, and +4) and a 40.5 to 49mm step-up adapter.

Think I'll also try it on the 06 lens as well.

Ok I will shoot the test. The first image is the 02 @ 15mm at closest focus distance, the 2nd is the 02 plus a HOYA +4, the 3rd the 02 plus the +4, +2, and +1 both at closest focus distance, Look good to me. No PP of any kind just reduced in size Added 06 lens at 45mm with +4 and the last image 06 at 45mm with +4, +2, +1

Good job hnikesch. These came out well. I have some slides copied with 02 and +10 closeup filter, will see if I can post one. Maybe after the World Series. Go Cards!

thanks

Looks pretty good! Thanks very much for the pics. They're very helpful. I'll go ahead & pick up a set of closeup lenses. Looks like they're worth tossing in the bag for those occasions I want to snag a macro shot with the Q.

Generally speaking, I think you'll do better with a K-mount macro lens on the K2Q adapter.

Not an extreme close-up, but here's a sample with the Voigtlaender 90/3.5
(does 1:1.8 with its dedicated close-up lens)

Comparing with the great macro you can get from a point-and-shoot,
I've been disappointed that the regular (not "toy") native Q lenses don't do better than around 1:15 to 1:20.

Oh, I'm sure. (Nice pic, by the way...) And I do have a nice 100mm macro, but I was just wanting something small I could leave in the Q bag for occasional use.

Cheers,
Bob :-)

Which is why Pentax needs to hurry up and release that telephoto macro lens for the Q. Haven't heard anything about it other than it being listed on the Q lens roadmap.

Depends on your Q bag, of course.

I use a small Case Logic videocam bag
for anything bigger than the 01 prime,
and am able to fit the Pentax adapter with the DA 40 XS lens.

The adapter/lens combo is actually shorter than the 06 zoom,
and will reach down to a subject that's only two inches across.

The only downside is the lack of aperture ring on the lens,
so you can't stop down below f/2.8 with an extension ring.

I use a 52mm closeup on the front of my 02 hood. Shots look good but the combo brings vignetting at 5mm so it can't just stay in place for all shots. Bokeh is smoother than with BC setting in my tests.
