shutter count

why does the shuttercount of the Q doesnt count the shutter of the lens ?
instead it tells me how many pictures the Q has taken since the last firmwareupdate ... ftw .. shuttercount of a shutterless body

That would require it to track serial numbers, which might be going a bit far

Such a tiny shutter will probably never break, but you never know!

I think Adam means to track shutter activations per lens, the body would need to store how many shots for each lens mounted (X shots for 5-15 with s/n 123456, Y shots for 15-45 with s/n 438203, etc.). I guess technically it *could* be stored in the lens as well (these lenses have their own firmware) but I don't know this is something I'd want Pentax/Ricoh to spend an inordinate amount of time on.

If it actually resets this number when firmware is updated, that's also not very useful in determining the relative workload of the body either -- one could reset the number by updating the firmware.
