Q7 raw and Lightroom 5 - stripping photo effects?

Hi all,
Just got a Q7 and am enjoying it's better response times and image quality enhancements, but I'm finding that when shooting RAW and using special effects (tone expansion, b/w, etc) when I try to develop the photo in lightroom 5 the image changes to an image without any effects added. What's strange is that the preview toolbar shows the image with the effects, but when I click on it, the effects go away. I can understand that Lightroom is processing the image as a RAW file and not an image w/ effects, but I find it a bit disappointing that I have to go back and reverse the image back to how I wanted it recorded.

Anyone know a fix for this?

Thanks,
Mike

Yes, the fix is to photograph in jpg or use the the raw converter supplied with the camera.

The preview is the embedded JPEG image, with all the effects you wanted. When you click on it, LR opens the RAW file which has no developing. As a suggestion, after checking out the built in LR effects and finding them wanting, create your own so you can duplicate it as a starting set.

ok, thanks all. I'll have to see about using the Pentax software - I haven't tried their software since the k10 and that was a frustrating experience. Hope this is better! I do like shooting in raw, with the extra latitude in post.

RAW is RAW, it records what it sees. If you want to use the in camera FX, shoot JPEG. Simple as that

Just that. And remember that you can shoot RAW+, and have the JPEG saved along with the RAW version. Best of both worlds, perhaps.
