08 Wide Zoom

Got my 08 Wide Zoom today

Larger than the 8.5mm prime, but still small.

Unfortunately this is the darkest time of the year in Norway and I don't have any real life pictures to show until next week. But I tried it indoors a little and this lens is sharp. Very sharp

Here are two images taken of a self made test chart. One at the widest focal length and one at the narrowest. Both at the largest aperture. As you can se it is sharp enough to create moire both in the center and in the corner (lower left).

Autofocus is fast as expected, Manual focus sucks as the other Q lenses

Looks really sharp as you say! Some fringing as usual with the Q lenses. Also, amazing how small it is despite being that wide.

I'm quietly coveting that lens, and looking forward to your shots.

Thanks for the charts and (visual) size comparison. I'd love that lens but I can't yet get over sticker shock. By the time the price drops on this one Pentax will (hopefully) release a wide prime. That's what I *really* want.

It's a 1.6x zoom. Almost a prime

Performance with the sun in the image is not bad either :-)

Looks easily good enough to generate some LBA in me, and I had pretty much thought that was all in the past . . .

It appears that with my already acquired K-3, the WR 55-300 for an economy WR walkaround, and the 08, my yearly photo budget will already be well into the realm of deficit spending before the middle of the first month of the year. . .

Settings are the same. The flare is more noticable on a dark background. If you look carefully, you will see the same flare in both pictures, but red in one and burnt-out white in the other.
