and now (just tried it) the 100mm version - Super-Multi-Coated Macro Takumar 100mm F4.0 (not far behind).
Does your 100mm macro tak have 6 normal aperture blades? Or is it the same as my bellows version that has 8 blades that are star shaped when set around f8 ( they are perfectly round at f22). This makes for hellish bokeh on the K30 and I think is seriously lowering contrast thanks to diffraction on the Q?

I have solved the contrast issue with the bellows 100mm macro by putting 2 black paper baffles in, one inside the adapter and one at its entrance. Instead of bellows I was using a helicoid tube and some extra normal tubes to create the extension length required. I was getting internal reflections from these.

Now that I have played with the cut filter a bit more I thought I would add another image. In normal lighting conditions at f4 on my M50/1.4 I don't think there is much difference in results other than the colour cast.I has a sense there may be just a little more sharpness in the filtered ones but if so it is less than natural variation between photos. To better display differences I have also posted a comparison at f1.4 where I think the difference may be more noticeable. Obviously you wouldn't choose to use f1.4 on this subject (DOF is less than eye to nose!). The oof nose is where the removal of IR shows. By lowering the blue saturation (not done here) the filtered one improved. At the end of the day the filter certainly hasn't degraded the image and has done its job of protecting the lens just like using uv filters in the good ol film days.

less of the bloom @1.4 looks like ?
The filter might also help sharpen up B&W conversions .
Will try the 1:1.2 soon, blinking light has gone again
