Your life probably doesn't depend on it, so it is not necessary.
If I were you, I would wait a couple weeks to see if Pentax/Ricoh makes any more announcements.

I think the correct answer is a set of qurstions:
- Are you happy with your Q?
- If not, with what are you unhappy?
- And will a Q7 fix it?

But anyway, Na Horuk is spot on

Savoche frames the questions correctly - depending on your answers, that will determine whether the q7 will help. But clearly the q7 is a better camera in just about every way. That's not to say that I have thrown away the classic Q - I still like it and keep one in my car at all times - if it gets stolen, not a big loss. It's still way better of a camera than my phone...

Interesting. I just bought a Q7 / 02 Kit NIB untouched for $300. Granted, Japanese language manual, 11/29/2013 Mfg. date. There are more at this price, plus 02/06 2-lens kits in standard colors - but does this mean something is on the wind?

I really don't care - this will be my briefcase shooter and the Q will be my reach camera with the converter.

I have no contacts or anything like that, but some trade shows are coming up. I always like to wait for these things to be over before buying new stuff.
But just because a new product comes out doesnt mean the older one gets worse. Its still as good as it ever was. And it looks like you got a great deal
