Yes that sounds about right. That is where they have it positioned on the Q lens roadmap also in that focal range. Hope it's built nicely too like the 08 lens, even if that means it will be more expensive. I think Ricoh / Pentax got a lot of bad feedback on the cheaper build quality of the 06 lens and have since decided to build the new lenses better. At least if the trend set by the new 08 lens continues. We shall see...

This news on the exact day I get a 06 in the mail!
I'd sell my 06 (which I love so far) in a heartbeat for that new telephoto macro.

Ha I've been looking to get an 06 as well. I may just wait for this instead depending on how things pan out with further info.

The photo that was just published here reads 40.5mm, so they're not kidding about it being a *telephoto* macro. If it does 1:1, the Q7 will suddenly become an attractive macro camera...

lol whoah, so that's like a 225mm macro lens on 35mm format. Or a 150mm macro on my k-x with my Q

Yes, so for effective field of view, that'd be about 120mm on an APS-C cam? Not as much of a tele as I originally thought... It's not that far off the 90-105mm of the typical macro lens on an APS-C camera. But now that I think about it, how wide is the Q7's sensor? What does "1/1.7 inches" mean precisely? A little googling produces the numbers 7.6 x 5.7mm, so 7.6mm wide, vrs the 23.6mm of my K-01 for example, right? So at 1:1, an object just 7.6mm wide fills the whole frame... Seems exciting - I need to get to about 3:1 to get the same object to fill my APS-C frame... Am I missing something?

EDIT: Is it really filter size? Ah yes, I see the little circle icon. Bummer. Still a 1:1 lens for the Q system seems pretty exciting...

I'm really hoping they can make this f/2 or faster, so it can do double-duty as a portrait lens and offer some additional speed over the 06 zoom.

Will be unhappy if this lens costs as much as the 08.

I would be suprised if it were less than $450US, especially if it is f2 or better. I think $450 start price would be fair if it were f2 & ~100mm equiv

Hoping for f2 or better also. I'd love to see f1.8 or even f1.4 but probably not likely.
