Well, these are three 50 mm lenses of quite different nature. Any relation to why a Q-mount macro should not be faster than f/2?

I don't there there can be any reason except cost. But even so if anything it should be cheaper to make than a 50mm F2 for APS-C is. Making the same focal length/F-number for a smaller sensor can only be easier and cheaper than making same for a large sensor as it is optically identical except that it can get away with being sharp over a much smaller image circle. Same for vignetting and CA.

Incidentally I do have a 50mm F1.4 c-mount lens which I use with my Q10. I don't see any reason why Pentax couldn't make a similar one but with better IQ and add the mechanisms required for shutter, diaphragm, focus and so on.

Yeah, I forgot about that one. Besides that, max. aperture of a macro lens on a digital camera is to me, of no importance at all. I have never used a macro lens wide open.

Sure, on an APS-C dof gets too shallow, but with the 1/1.7" of the Q7 dof is still quite large. So it would make sense to build such a lens.

Zeiss has the 50/2 and 100/2. (I don't! )

From a News & Rumors thread, sounds pretty reliable:

I would love to see some samples taken with this setup.

If that is the case, I don't understand why they showed it at CP+ at all. It would be better to wait until Photokina. It dosn't make any sense to show it one year before it is ready.

Maybe they think buyers of the original Q will feel like they haven't had to wait as many years for a second high-performance prime.

Maybe they're clearing the decks for something bigger at Photokina.

Olympus Om 90 f2 macro. Olympus Om 20mm f2 macro ( awesome 4-16X magnification!). Olympus 50mm f2 4/3 lens. Vivitar Series 1 90 f2.5.

With optical viewfinder, brighter macro lenses are easier to focus and compose. Plus macro lenses loose light with extension. Easy to lose 2-3 stops of light. I often put the Pentax 200 f4 macro away, and reach for the Pentax 100 f2.8 in low light. Lcd helps to a point, then it gets too dark.

Math person should be able to look at the pics of the new lens and work out the approx max aperture. We know the filter threads are 40.5.
thanks

you dont see the pupil in the pictures ... but you see a front element similar to the 01 prime ... since the focal length increase its hard to believe in anything less then F2.8 .. and even that is a benevolence

just look at the pupil of your 06 at 15mm and tell me there is a possible bigger pupil in the macro ... hohoho

Good lens but not quite as good as I would have wished, but you get what you pay for. Here's an earlier post with some samples:

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/136-pentax-q/245736-macro-extension-tubes-q.html#post2617048

It is not really usable fully open though, unless you want a dreamy sort of picture.
