Just ordered the Pentax 08

I recently sold some gear as well as getting the $200 rebate for my Canon Pixma Pro 10 that I bought during a $299 Black Friday deal last year.

So I decided to order the Pentax 08 lens this morning. It is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow so I'm looking forward to taking it for a test drive this weekend.

still kicking myself for missing out on the 12 days of xmas deals through ricoh - I'd have my 08 by now... oh well, soon enough.

Yes it is! UPS website says it is "Out for Delivery". UPS normally delivers to my house late in the afternoon so it'll be a while.

I received my 08 on Monday and it looks very nice. I haven't had a chance to play with it extensively just yet. I received it on Monday, and per Murphy's Law whenever I receive a new toy, that is when several projects at work went south, my daughter got sick, and my wife was in the process of becoming sick.

However, one thing I was curious about was comparing the field of view of the 08 compared to the 03. Below are two shots taken about a week or two apart. Nothing special...just my front yard. The 08 is the first shot and the 03 follows (both shot with the Q7).

Let me know if any one has any questions about it,

Agree... the Q7/08 looks quite good.

I'm constantly surprised (pleasantly) by the 03 paired to a 'just-a' Q. Looks like a Q7 will continue the theme.

I look forward to anything else you might wish to share.

I have never been into wide, my 06 lived on my Q and a 80-200 lived on my Q2. But I have been wondering what my 02 and 03 can do now that my new Q7 provides a wider view and plan to do a little wide shooting. When golfing I always have my K30 with 55-300 to shoot the wild life and I plan to bring the Q7 with the 02 for some scenery shots, maybe the 03 in my bag. The 08 has never been on my radar but I do like your first shot and plan to keep an eye on your progress. I would like to expand my horizons a little.

I see here on the price watch the 08 is now available from Adorama for 426.95USD. With the recent price cut in the UK, crazy expensive, I did wonder if there would soon be a price reduction in NA.

Very tempting... After flipping a coin my budget won and Pentax lost.... No 08 for me.....For now.

I'll try to post some more pics in the next week. My wife and daughter are both well now, but I got smacked with the virus on Saturday. Today was my first day out of bed.

I'm taking my wife and daughter down to the Philadelphia Flower Show this weekend. I plan on bringing my Q7 (w/ 08) and my recently acquired MX-1.

To Brisbane?!?!!

But I wouldn't have it back in time for this weekend.

Hopefully if things break right tomorrow morning, I can get my daughter to school a little early tomorrow morning and sneak over to the Delaware River for a few minutes and grab a few shots.
